Found in translation

Simon has nicely posted my translation of Alexander Gutzmer's interview with J. G. Ballard. It was originally published in German, and Simon subsequently ran it through a Web translator and published the results.

Which were...interesting.

Not least since 'Ballard' was translated as 'Ball pool of broadcasting corporations' ('ARD' being the name for German state television), and bizarrely poetic text was generated such as:

Were not the dictators 20 in vain. Century fascinates in such a way of it.
and

The modernism lets dark impulses come upward, those into us schlummern. It gives no area to the unexplainable one, the Mysterioesen - and produces straight therefore a return to the Barbarei.
What my version lacks in poetry, is hopefully made up for in clarity.

Enjoy.

(Thanks Simon. Thanks Alexander.)
